Apparently, back in the '30's it was quite common for many Maplewood Residents to raise chickens in their backyards. Now, anyone that has been to Maplewood recently would attest to it's charming downtown, it's large shade trees, proximity to NYC, but few would think, "now this is that spot for farm animals!" That might be changing in the near future. I recently came across this article by Mary Mann posted on Maplewood's Patch.com and it caught my eye.
